EXPECTATIONS

I *love* it when you do a series! They're my favorites.

I think I "get" hope more than this one, but this one has a very textured and shadowy feel. I'll have to look at this one a little longer and see if more understanding dawns.

I await your interpretations with eagerness! Sometimes I wonder if anyone "gets" what I do...it's alright if they don't, it is a personal vision. The one thing I miss most about school, is critique...so let me know your thoughts.
You see I finally had the one computer fixed. I now have a fully functional keyboard!!!! a moment of silence for the 17 inch.. I think it just needs to be burried.

I've thought about this (sometimes it takes me a while to process something) and I think I wasn't getting it because I have different associations with the word "expectations" than what I think you are trying to convey here - or at least, my associations with the word "expectations" create a discord between image and title. Expectations to me are often negative - lead to disappointment in myself and in others, leaving me feeling let down.

But when I considered like an expectantcy, like an eager waiting/longing, that made much more sense and jived with the picture itself. So, all that said, I've finally made sense of the picture/title combo and think it was extremely well executed :D

I think both meaning kind of correspond with each other. Yes, there is the eager waiting/longing...the growth and flourishing, to the point that they take on a life of their own. the other side of this, is that the "plant" is a vine, that can't be easily controlled. If I ever add to this series, you will see what I think comes after this. I think expectations can be pretty, and can be a driving force, but I have realized that they can definitely be negative pesty vines that overtake the area they reside, and can obscure a clear view.

Wow Jeff, you've got so much meaning in there - it's hard to get it all, but that makes it more of a treat when you do (or when it's told to you!). Did I ever tell you that you've made me *really* see that photography can be art?
