Anthony & Suzanne

One year ago today I photographed the wedding of a wonderful and happy couple. Anthony and Suzanne decided to relive the day a bit by doing a first anniversary photo session. It is such a pleasure to be part of the lives of such nice people. I look forward to capturing future events in their lives. This is what I love about my job!

The Best Part of Making Brownies

"BIG"

Once a year I get to play Tom Hanks. I spent the evening with about 12 8-12 year old boys. Our AWANA group has an annual Father/Son sleep over at the church. We spend some time working with power tools(not my specialty), making pinewood derby cars, and the rest of the time playing(the pictured cushin diving was an early evening event). Only 3 of the Dad's actually stayed, and two of them were asleep by 1:00. This left me playing capture the flag until 4 am. None of the boys went to bed before this. Capture the flag has become a much anticipated tradition. This is the 4th year in a row we have done it, and all the other Dad's basically rely on the fact that I am going to stay up and play with the kids. They say I am the resident insomniac. Fair enough. Capture the flag was one of my favorite games growing up, and it is fun to revert a bit. There is nothing like sneaking around a dark church in the middle of the night. It is quite big, and we use the whole space to play the game. Ahhhh to be 10 again. Jonah and I had a fun night. An extra added bonus to staying up is that the other two Dad's cook breakfast and let me sleep in a bit (9:00)! Now I am back to being the "old man" maybe a nap is in order.

AXED

This is the Broad Axe Tavern. It is hundreds of years old. I have never been there. I have driven by it many times. It is being demolilished. Next week they will probably start building a CVS, just like the one a mile down the road.
Chaya and Eve got haircuts! I need to stop telling Chaya when I am taking her picture. She is going to get stuck like that.

EAT ME

OK, so this may be concidered cheating because I didn't take these pictures today. They are both from weddings that I was working on today. I could not resist posting this example of interesting wedding fare.

MORNING PERSON

I am not a morning person. I was up at 6 to get Eli up, and tried to get back to sleep. It was a beautiful morning here before the sun came up...there was a nice coating of snow on the ground. I wanted to get up and take a picture of this, but I fought myself....I could sleep at least another 2 hours! The thought of getting up and shooting kept me just awake enough to not really fall asleep, but not actually get up. Soon the sun was up and as Chaya got ready to wait for the bus (which ended up never coming), I remembered how nice the morning light in the hallway is. I got up and got this picture instead. not what I wanted, but Chaya's warm smile is better than some dark snow and ice, right?
I have to throw this in. After the early, snowy morning, I was happy to find my favorite coffee place(ok, it's a donut place but isn't the coffee the real attraction) in my rear view mirror. Dalissa and I had a rare 5 minutes to sit down together for a bite and a drink, then it was on with work and the rest of the day.

SHOULD WE TALK ABOUT THE WEATHER

It snowed a little today...just a little. Focusing on melting snowflakes provides an interesting view. You have to look at this big.
One more from the basement...I thought they kind of went together.

DUEL

No, it's not fencing. The third floor was host to some "friendly" simultaneous guitar playing. Too bad for Josiah,Eli has a much larger amp. "Ariels" sounded great though!
